Alleluia Christ is Risen!
April 2026
The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus is the
fundamental event that changes the prospect for all
mankind. It is the defeat of the consequences of the
fall of man in the Garden of Eden. It is a triple
victory. It is a victory over Satan and the power of
evil. Jesus did not succumb to temptation on Good
Friday. Jesus was victorious over sin; he submitted
himself fully and completely to the will of God the
Father. Finally, the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross
resulted in his victory over death. These three
victories were won for each of us by Jesus. He gives
us through his Church the power to deal with the
forces of darkness. He gives us the ever-present
opportunity to confess our sins and to receive
forgiveness and absolution, and the opportunity to
grow in holiness, to become more like Jesus.
Finally, Jesus’ victory over death means that we will
be resurrected bodily and then live forever.
Jesus’ resurrection was not just spiritual. Lots of
folks would like to spiritualize Easter. Jesus’
Resurrection was incarnational; the Word became
flesh and dwelt amongst us, John 1:14. Let’s look at
the resurrection narratives in the gospels. Mt 28:9,
Mary Magdalene and the other Mary meet Jesus,
and they, … , “took hold of his feet and worshiped
him. Luke 24:30, Jesus broke bread with two
disciples who met him on the Road to Emmaus.
Jesus physically picked up bread. In the Gospel of
John, there are several instances of Jesus demonstrating his physicality to the disciples. John
20:19, the disciples are in the upper room. Jesus
appears to them and breathes on them to receive the
Holy Spirit. John 20:26, Jesus again appears to the
disciples and invites Thomas to touch Jesus’ wounds
received at the crucifixion. John 21:9, Jesus hands the
disciples bread. All the accounts in the gospels are
clear about the challenges that those who knew
Jesus have in accepting the reality of Jesus bodily
resurrection, and the clarity of that reality presented
in the gospel accounts.
Christians have had the same kind of challenges in
the acceptance of Jesus bodily resurrection. It may
seem much neater to spiritualize His resurrection.
Jesus bodily resurrection reveals the truth about HIS
victory over death, AND the reality of our own
resurrection. You and I will be resurrected BODILY!
It is typical for many to believe only in the immortality of the soul, that the soul goes to heaven after we die, and that’s it. Our souls are a part of us, but not the totality of what each of us is as a human being. Each of us is an incarnational being made in the image and likeness of God. The resurrection of Jesus is not only HIS victory over Satan, sin, and death, but the ultimate prophetic act of our bodily resurrection.
The 40 Days of Easter give us time to meditate and
pray about not only the victory of Jesus, but also a time to prepare ourselves for our own resurrection.

Join us at St. Paul’s Anglican Church for an evening centered on prayer, reflection, and drawing closer to God through the practice of the Anglican Rosary.
Used by many Anglicans as a devotional prayer practice, the Anglican Rosary offers a gentle rhythm of prayer that helps quiet the mind and open the heart to God’s presence. Through repeated prayer and meditation on Scripture, it invites us to slow down, listen, and rest in the peace of Christ. Many find it to be a meaningful way to deepen their spiritual life and cultivate a daily habit of prayer.
Fr. William Warnky will begin the Saturday evenings with a Q&A at 5:30 PM, sharing the spiritual significance of the Anglican Rosary and answering questions. At 6:00 PM, all are invited to remain as we enter into a time of praying the Anglican Rosary together.
Whether you are new to this form of prayer or simply seeking a quiet space to pray, all are welcome to come and experience this peaceful practice of devotion.
